Hatsune Miku (初音ミク) is a synthesizer voice bank created by Crypton Future Media which debuted August 31, 2007. A Vocaloid is a personification term given to these voices. One key physical feature which separates other Vocaloids from the rest are her long, turqoise twintails. Since then, Miku has been a part of pop culture not only in music buy also in video games and collectable figures and merchendise!
I discovered Miku as a teenager in the early 2000s when the Internet was still the Wild West before memes were called memes. My mom gifted me my first laptop hoping I'd pick up at the minimum basic keyboarding since the technology was evolving fast and quick. I stumbled upon the song "Melt" by ryo supercell and immediately fell in love with Miku. She is what you'd call your Vtuber Oshi your idol. You can imagine how it felt to come home and just put a Miku song on repeat and forget about your problems from realtiy. Miku was that ever-burning light whenver thigs were dark. I never had the money to buy her merch at the time or would my parents understand. The best I could do is appreciate people's work of utilizing her voicebank. While I do like other Vocaloids as well, Miku will hold that specical place in my heart for eternity.
During my tour in Japan from 2022 to 2026, I have curated quality Miku figures I found to my liking. Some were even ordered because of how rare they were, lol.
These are few of the selected Hatsune Miku songs I blast on repeat. Some are old, some are new. Though this shrine is primarily about Miku, I still apprecaite all the other songs made with the voice banks of other Vocaloids!!
